Welcome to Made Happy

My name is Debbie and I am the proud owner of Made Happy. My life has consisted of many careers, such as retail, pharmacy and teaching. All these job roles have given me the essential skills required to run a business, but some have caused a lot of stressful times. This is when I seeked for a therapeutic activity and I found painting old furniture with Frenchic the one that gave me the most stress release and enjoyment.

How it all started

While I was full time teaching, an opportunity arose to start a business but I had to think long and hard about whether to become a business owner and give up my teaching job. Luckily, I was given the chance to do part time teaching and run a business at the same time.

So I jumped at the opportunity and I haven’t looked back since.

My business now consists of my own furniture creations,
locally made products, Frenchic paint and lots of beautiful interior items.

Debbie Bretherton

Owner

I am a slight perfectionist when it comes to the final finish of my pieces of furniture and I would only sell an item if I was happy to have it in my own home.

My teaching skills are implemented into the business when I carry out painting workshops. Here I build customers confidence so that they can paint their own items of furniture when they go home.

I have had wonderful feedback from these who have attended and have said they had lots of fun and have felt content.

I am a true believer that there are always new skills to learn, so I am therefore constantly educating myself. I keep myself up to date with new trends within the interior market and am passionate about supplying beautiful products for all walks of life.

Commissions

I undertake commissions, this is where I paint customers furniture to their requirements and I always ensure this is to the highest standard.
